Horizontal Swimlane
Description
The horizontal swimlane activity can be used in business workflows to organize activities by dividing them into horizontal lanes. Each lane represents a specific role, department, or entity involved. This layout helps delineate responsibilities, making it easy to see which participant is responsible for each task and how they interact with other roles. Horizontal swimlanes enhance understanding and accountability by providing a structured workflow overview.
For Example, In a customer support process, a horizontal swimlane diagram could have lanes for Customer Service Representative, Technical Support, and Billing Department. The Customer Service Representative lane would include tasks like receiving the customer query and logging the issue. The Technical Support lane would handle diagnosing and resolving technical problems. The Billing Department lane would manage tasks related to payment issues or refunds. This organization helps all team members understand their specific responsibilities and how their tasks are interconnected within the overall process.
