This is a cloud-based Generative AI service offered by OpenAI that uses its text-generation models (often referred to as generative pre-trained transformers, or "GPT" models for short), such as GPT-4 and GPT-3.5.

Understanding Input, Cached Input, and Output Tokens

• Input Tokens represent the tokens consumed from the text you send to the model, including system prompts, user messages, and conversation history.
• Cached Input Tokens represent tokens reused from a previously processed context. When supported by the model, cached tokens are charged at a lower rate because the model does not fully reprocess them.
• Output Tokens represent the tokens generated by the model in its response.

Currency consumption is calculated independently for Input, Cached Input, and Output tokens based on the rates defined in the table above.

Example Currency Calculation

Consider a Chat request using the GPT-4o model with the following usage:

• Input Tokens: 2,000
• Cached Input Tokens: 1,000
• Output Tokens: 1,500

Based on the pricing table:

• Input: 2 × 0.0075 = 0.015 Currency
• Cached Input: 1 × 0.00375 = 0.00375 Currency
• Output: 1.5 × 0.03 = 0.045 Currency

Total Currency Consumed:   0.015 + 0.00375 + 0.045 = 0.06375 Currency

This total is deducted from your available IB-X Currency balance.
