Configure a Vobiz Account
Overview
Before creating a Vobiz Connection in IB-X, register a Vobiz account and retrieve its Auth ID and Auth Token. This page covers that provider-side setup and the phone-number preparation needed for Phone Call Trigger.
You will need access to your business email, your organization's contact details, and permission to manage its Vobiz account.
Create a Vobiz account
- Open the Vobiz sign-up page.
- Enter your full name and work email. Create and confirm a password that meets the displayed requirements. Enter a referral code if applicable and accept the terms to continue. Google sign-up is also available.
- Complete the business-details step with your company name, contact phone number, country, state or province, city, postal code, and street address. Use accurate organizational details; these are used for billing and verification. The contact phone number is separate from the Vobiz number callers will dial.
- Complete email verification using the code Vobiz sends to your email address. If it does not arrive, check spam and use Resend. Correct the email address if necessary.
- Finish registration and open the console dashboard.
If your organization already has an account, use the Vobiz login page and skip registration. For the complete registration flow, see Vobiz Login & Signup.
Find the Auth ID and Auth Token
- Sign in to the Vobiz Console with the account you intend to use for IB-X.
- Open the Dashboard.
- Scroll to Account & Infrastructure and locate API Credentials.
- Copy Auth ID. This identifies the account and typically has an
MA_prefix. - Use the eye icon to reveal Auth Token if needed, and the copy icon to copy it.
- Paste the values into Auth ID and Auth Token in New Vobiz Connection in IB-X. Follow Create a Vobiz connection to test and save them.
See the official Vobiz Dashboard guide for the credential controls and Vobiz Authentication for API authentication details.
| Vobiz value | IB-X field | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Auth ID | Auth ID | Identifies the Vobiz account. |
| Auth Token | Auth Token | Authenticates access to that account. |
Copy both values from the same account. Use the API Auth Token, rather than your console sign-in password or SIP trunk password. Keep the token confidential and paste it directly into the connection's credential field.
Prepare a phone number for incoming calls
Account credentials allow IB-X to connect to Vobiz, but callers also need a phone number routed to the workflow.
- In Vobiz, open the Numbers / DID section and obtain a number suitable for incoming voice calls in the required region.
- Complete any verification required by Vobiz for that number. For Indian numbers, consult Vobiz India Number KYC.
- Check the account's billing status and available balance before making test calls.
- Create or select a Voice XML Application for the workflow and assign the phone number to it. Set its Answer URL to the webhook copied from Phone Call Trigger.
Follow Vobiz's phone-number guide to obtain a number and the Vobiz Quick Start for XML Application setup. The IB-X routing steps, including choosing between debugging and deployment URLs, are documented in Phone Call Trigger.
Credential maintenance
If the Auth Token is exposed or needs replacing, use Vobiz's credential-management controls to regenerate it. Vobiz states that regenerating the token invalidates the previous value; see Vobiz Authentication security notes.
After replacing it:
- Edit the Vobiz Connection in IB-X.
- Enter the new Auth Token and test the connection.
- Save the change and make a test call to a workflow using the connection.
- Update any other integrations that used the previous token.
Setup checklist
Before moving to the designer, confirm that:
- You can sign in to the intended Vobiz account.
- You have copied its Auth ID and Auth Token into a saved, tested IB-X connection.
- The incoming phone number is available in that account and any required verification is complete.
- The phone number's XML Application routes calls to the correct IB-X webhook.
Continue with Phone Call Trigger to configure the greeting, ringing, and conversational workflow.
