IntelliBuddies Platform - FAQs

Platform concepts

What is IB-X, and what can I build with it?

IB-X is the IntelliBuddies platform for designing, executing, and managing automation. You can build business workflows, local desktop automation, enterprise integrations, and AI-powered conversational experiences. See the platform overview.

Is IntelliBuddies a full-fledged RPA platform?

Yes. RPA capabilities automate desktop applications, browsers, files, and workstation resources. The platform also supports Agents for business workflows, integrations, and AI interactions. See platform capabilities and the Agent model.

What is the difference between an Agent, Local Agent, workflow, and automation?

An Agent is an automation definition that executes on the platform. A Local Agent executes on a workstation through Smart Station. A workflow defines the activities and execution paths within an Agent or Local Agent. An automation is a running or completed execution of that definition. See core concepts.

When should I use Agent Builder or Process Designer?

Use the web-based Agent Builder for platform workflows, human tasks, integrations, and conversational Agents. Use Local Agent Builder, also referred to as Process Designer in the documentation, for desktop applications and local workstation resources. See Agent Builder and Process Designer.

Where should a new user start?

Start with the getting started journey and core concepts, then follow the guide for your first Agent or local process.

Editions and deployment

What are the different platform editions available?

The installation documentation describes Enterprise, Professional, and IntelliAppZ editions. Enterprise uses AI Command Center with client components; Professional provides desktop automation with Process Designer and Assistant Buddy; IntelliAppZ provides packaged automation solutions. See editions and deployment options. Feature availability also depends on your license.

Does IntelliBuddies work on-premises?

Yes. You can deploy AI Command Center in your own infrastructure or a cloud environment that meets the requirements. The documentation covers Windows installation, Linux packages, and customer-managed AWS EKS deployments. See deployment options and AWS EKS architecture.

What operating systems does IntelliBuddies support?

AI Command Center supports the Windows Server and Linux environments listed in the server requirements. Process Designer, Assistant Buddy, and Smart Station have separate Windows client requirements. Server support does not imply that desktop clients run on Linux.

What databases does AI Command Center support?

AI Command Center supports Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL. The Knowledge Ingestion Service additionally requires the vector and graph data services listed in the server requirements. See database selection for initial configuration.

What authentication mechanisms are available?

User management supports Basic, LDAP / Microsoft Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory authentication. External providers must be registered and configured, and availability depends on licensing. See authentication providers and user management.

What frameworks and prerequisites do I need?

Requirements differ between the server and Windows clients. Check the maintained server requirements, client requirements, or IntelliAppZ requirements for the component you are installing.

Do I need IT assistance to deploy IntelliAppZ?

IntelliAppZ packages simplify distribution of a specific automation, but the workstation still needs the required software, permissions, and application access. See IntelliAppZ requirements and running IntelliAppZ.

Can I use IntelliAppZ alongside the Enterprise platform?

IntelliAppZ and the Enterprise platform serve different deployment needs. Review the IntelliAppZ architecture and Enterprise architecture when planning their use together. Check dependencies and licensing before moving an automation to another deployment model.

Releases and integrations

Where can I find release changes and known limitations?

Use the release notes for version-specific changes and known issues and limitations for documented constraints, including process naming and automation compatibility.

Can an external application start automation or query its status?

Yes. Obtain the appropriate API credentials and use the endpoint for your automation type. See the REST API overview, API key, start job, create process instance, and job status.

For setup and activation, see Installation and Licensing FAQs.
