AI Connections

Overview

AI connections allow IB-X Agents to connect to supported AI and language model providers.

Depending on the provider, connections can use either:

  • Native Provider Credentials – Connect directly to the AI provider using customer-managed credentials.
  • Integration Gateway – Access supported AI services through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway using IB-X Currency, without managing provider credentials directly.

IB-X supports the following AI connections:

ConnectionDescriptionConnection Options
OpenAIProvides access to OpenAI text generation models.Native OpenAI Key, Integration Gateway
LlamaProvides access to Meta Llama models.Native Endpoint, Integration Gateway
SarvamProvides access to Sarvam AI language and speech services.Native Sarvam API Key, Integration Gateway
note

The services and connection options available depend on the selected AI provider.

OpenAI

The OpenAI connection allows IB-X Agents to access OpenAI text generation models.

Connection Options

OpenAI can be accessed using either a native OpenAI connection or the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.

Native OpenAI Key

Use Native OpenAI Key to connect directly to OpenAI using your own OpenAI API key.

This option is suitable when your organization manages its own OpenAI account, credentials, and usage.

Integration Gateway

Use Integration Gateway to access supported OpenAI services through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.

An OpenAI API key is not required when using this option. Usage is billed using IB-X Currency.

Additional Resources

For information about configuring an OpenAI connection, see Connecting to OpenAI.

Llama

The Llama connection allows IB-X Agents to access Meta Llama models.

Connection Options

Llama can be accessed using either a native endpoint or the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.

Native Endpoint

Use Native Endpoint to connect to a custom deployed Llama endpoint.

Integration Gateway

Use Integration Gateway to access supported Llama services through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.

Usage through the Integration Gateway is billed using IB-X Currency.

Additional Resources

For information about configuring a Llama connection, see Connecting to Llama.

Sarvam

The Sarvam connection allows IB-X Agents to access Sarvam AI services for Indian-language speech and language capabilities.

A Sarvam connection can be used for:

  • Speech-to-Text (STT) – Use Saaras or Saarika models for speech transcription in voice conversations.
  • Text-to-Speech (TTS) – Use Bulbul models to generate speech in voice conversations.
  • Large Language Models (LLM) – Use Sarvam language models for AI responses in Conversational Agents.

Connection Options

Sarvam services can be accessed using either a native Sarvam API key or the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.

Native Sarvam API Key

Use Native Sarvam API Key to connect directly to Sarvam using your own Sarvam API key.

Connection Properties

PropertyDescription
API KeyAPI key associated with your Sarvam account. Required when using a native Sarvam connection.

A native Sarvam connection can be validated using Test Connection from the Connections page.

Integration Gateway

Use Integration Gateway to access supported Sarvam speech services without managing a Sarvam API key.

IB-X provides IB-X Sarvam Credits for supported Sarvam Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) services.

Usage is billed using IB-X Currency.

note

When configuring voice capabilities for a Conversational Agent, select either a configured Sarvam connection or IB-X Sarvam Credits in the Voice and Transcriber sections of the When Chat Message Received activity.

Typical Use Cases

A Sarvam connection can be used for:

  • Configuring Sarvam as the Voice (TTS) provider
  • Configuring Sarvam as the Transcriber (STT) provider
  • Selecting Sarvam LLMs for Conversational Agent AI responses

Testing AI Connections

For native provider connections that support connection testing, click Test Connection after providing the required configuration and credentials.

Testing the connection can help identify issues such as:

  • Invalid provider credentials
  • Incorrect endpoint configuration
  • Network connectivity problems
  • Provider authentication failures
note

A successful connection test verifies that IB-X can authenticate with the configured provider. Access to individual models or services can depend on the capabilities and permissions available to the configured provider account.

Integration Gateway

The Integration Gateway provides IB-X-managed access to supported AI services without requiring customers to configure their own provider credentials.

Where supported:

  • Provider credentials are managed through the Integration Gateway.
  • Usage is consumed using IB-X Currency.
  • The available services depend on the selected provider and capability.

This provides an alternative to using customer-managed native provider credentials.

Security Considerations

When using native AI provider connections:

  • API keys and other sensitive connection credentials are stored securely by IB-X.
  • Use provider credentials intended for the appropriate IB-X environment.
  • Restrict access to connection management based on organizational requirements.
  • Regularly rotate provider credentials according to your organization's security policies.

When using the Integration Gateway, provider credentials do not need to be configured directly in the connection.
