Sarvam Connection
Overview
The Sarvam connection allows IB-X Agents to connect to Sarvam AI services using customer-managed Sarvam credentials.
Sarvam can be used in IB-X for Indian-language speech and language capabilities, including:
- Speech-to-Text (STT) – Use supported Saaras or Saarika models for speech transcription.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS) – Use supported Bulbul models to generate spoken responses.
- Large Language Models (LLM) – Use supported Sarvam language models for AI response generation.
For supported Sarvam speech services, configuring a customer-managed Sarvam connection is optional when using IB-X Sarvam Credits through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.
Connection Options
Sarvam services can be accessed using either:
- Native Sarvam API Key – Connect directly to Sarvam using a customer-managed Sarvam API key.
- Integration Gateway – Access supported Sarvam services through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.
Native Sarvam API Key
Use Native Sarvam API Key when your organization manages its own Sarvam account and credentials.
IB-X uses the configured API key to authenticate directly with Sarvam.
Connection Properties
Configure the following property when creating a native Sarvam connection.
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| API Key | API key associated with your Sarvam account. |
The API Key is a sensitive credential.
Protect the key from unauthorized access and manage it according to your organization's credential-management and security policies.
Integration Gateway
For supported Sarvam services, IB-X provides IB-X Sarvam Credits through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.
IB-X Sarvam Credits can be used for supported:
- Speech-to-Text (STT) services
- Text-to-Speech (TTS) services
When using IB-X Sarvam Credits:
- A customer-managed Sarvam connection is not required.
- A Sarvam API key does not need to be configured in IB-X.
- Requests are routed through the IntelliBuddies Integration Gateway.
- Usage consumes IB-X Currency.
The Sarvam services available through the Integration Gateway depend on the capabilities supported by IB-X.
Testing the Connection
After providing the required Sarvam API key, click Test Connection to verify that IB-X can authenticate with Sarvam using the supplied credentials.
Connection or authentication issues can result from:
- An invalid API key
- An expired or revoked API key
- Network connectivity problems
- Provider authentication failures
A successful connection test verifies that IB-X can authenticate with Sarvam using the configured credentials. Access to individual models and services depends on the capabilities available to the configured Sarvam account.
Used By
A Sarvam connection can be used by IB-X capabilities that support Sarvam as an AI or speech provider.
Typical uses include:
- Configuring Sarvam as the Voice (TTS) provider for a Conversational Agent
- Configuring Sarvam as the Transcriber (STT) provider for a Conversational Agent
- Selecting supported Sarvam LLMs for Conversational Agent AI responses
When configuring a Conversational Agent, select either a customer-managed Sarvam connection or the corresponding IB-X-managed option where available.
For supported speech capabilities, IB-X Sarvam Credits can be selected instead of a customer-managed Sarvam connection.
Conversational Agent Usage
Sarvam can provide both speech synthesis and transcription capabilities for voice-enabled Conversational Agents.
Speech-to-Text
Configure Sarvam as the Transcriber provider to convert user speech into text.
Depending on the selected configuration, supported Saaras or Saarika models can be used for speech transcription.
Text-to-Speech
Configure Sarvam as the Voice provider to convert Conversational Agent responses into speech.
Supported Bulbul models can be used for speech synthesis.
Language Models
Where supported, Sarvam language models can be selected for generating Conversational Agent responses.
For detailed configuration of Voice and Transcriber settings, see Conversational Agent.
Security Considerations
When configuring a native Sarvam connection:
- Protect the API Key from unauthorized access.
- Use credentials associated with the appropriate Sarvam account and IB-X environment.
- Restrict access to connection management based on organizational requirements.
- Rotate Sarvam API keys according to your organization's security policies.
- Do not expose API keys in Agent instructions, documentation, screenshots, or other unsecured locations.
When using IB-X Sarvam Credits through the Integration Gateway, customer-managed Sarvam credentials do not need to be configured in IB-X.
